Steve & Nic

A globetrotting couple from Ireland said I do in the stunning valley of Chamonix during a very warm summer weekend. They invited their friends and family to come to enjoy the majesty, beauty, and grandeur that this Alpine town offers. They picked this unique haven because they love to travel and love everything French! Nic has ancestral roots in France and had previously lived and studied in a nearby city, Lyon, and that is where she began to fall in love with the country and region.

Steve loves adventure and adores the mountains. He is a climber and explorer and loves Chamonix because he had previously summited Mont Blanc – a huge accomplishment! Charlie made sure to make the most of his wedding weekend. He went paragliding, rafting, and even spent the morning of the wedding rock climbing with his friends. Add in their love of good food, cooler climates, scenery, and of course good wine, and it is not difficult to see how they had chosen a beautiful and very fitting location for their biggest adventure yet – marriage!

Let’s start with the love story. Steve was a bouncer and helped a very beautiful damsel in distress on a fun night out with the girls. They immediately hit it off and started planning their next chapters together. From backpacking through Asia, starting a business, and buying a house – they were quickly the power couple that everyone aims to be. Since then, there has never been a dull moment.

Steve knew from the beginning that he wanted to marry Nic. He just wanted to plan the perfect proposal. So in July 2018, when they were visiting Annecy for Nic’s birthday, Steve decided this is it! Steve had done his research and chosen the stunning Pont des Amours bridge over the lake as the location. Unfortunately, however, 50 screaming schoolchildren arrived, which didn’t quite give Steve the ambiance he was looking for. Four unsuccessful passes later, Steve’s nerves were off the radar, and a new tactic was needed. Not to be defeated, Steve bought bathing suits and headed to the lake shore. Seeming to be a little erratic and surprisingly insistent on renting a pedalo, despite the boat companies trying to close, Steve succeeded! He popped the question out on the lake while the sun was setting and the moment couldn’t have been more perfect. The rest is history!

It is so clear that Nic and Steve bring out the best in each other, whilst recognizing and celebrating each other’s differences and individuality. They search to bring openness, honesty, and happiness to the people around them. They aim to continue to make each other smile every day, to see the world, and share as many experiences as possible together. They want to raise each other up on the bad days, and to celebrate the good days together. The support, security, respect and love that they feel for one another is clear to see.

When we asked this couple what they loved about one another, the answers were so sweet. Nic adores Steve’s love of adventure, his approach to life, his ambition, and willingness to take risks.  She loves that wether it is in business, in relationships, or in life in general – Steve is caring, steadfast, and thoughtful. She said something we really love – she said “Steve, you are not easily led. You are not influenced by people’s opinions around you, but rather by your own moral compass. That is what draws me to you every day.” How cute is that!

Steve quickly responded to our question by saying.. “What’s not to love about Nic! She is amazing, caring, family-oriented. She appreciates the small things in life and constantly has new ways to keep me grounded. She is supportive, encouraging, and always looking for the next adventure. I can’t get enough of her!”

We know this couple is destined for great things and we feel honored to have played even a small piece in the love story! Congrats you two!
